**Position Overview:**

The Head of Security is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive security policies and procedures that ensure the safety of personnel, assets, and the overall environment of the plantation. This leadership role requires strong analytical skills to assess risks, proactive problem\-solving abilities, and effective communication to manage security operations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Security Policy Development:**

  • **Design Security Protocols:** Create tailored security protocols that address specific risks associated with the plantation, including theft, vandalism, and environmental hazards.
  • **Policy Review and Update:** Establish a regular schedule for reviewing and updating security policies to ensure they reflect current best practices and legal requirements. Involve key stakeholders in the review process to gain insights and feedback.

**Risk Assessment:**

  • **Conduct Comprehensive Assessments:** Perform regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities in the plantation's security posture, including evaluating physical security measures and access controls.
  • **Develop Mitigation Strategies:** Analyze assessment results to develop and recommend actionable strategies for mitigating risks. Implement preventive measures and ensure their effectiveness through ongoing monitoring.

**Team Leadership and Development:**

  • **Recruit and Train Security Personnel:** Identify staffing needs, conduct interviews, and hire qualified security personnel. Implement a comprehensive training program that covers security protocols, emergency response, and conflict resolution.
  • **Conduct Drills and Evaluations:** Organize regular training drills and simulations to test the team’s preparedness for various scenarios, such as intrusions or natural disasters. Provide constructive feedback to improve performance.

**Incident Management:**

  • **Lead Investigations:** Take charge of investigating security incidents, utilizing proper investigative techniques to gather evidence, interviewing involved parties, and documenting findings thoroughly for future reference.
  • **Incident Response Planning:** Develop detailed incident response plans that outline steps to take in various emergency situations. Ensure that all personnel are trained on these plans and conduct periodic reviews to incorporate lessons learned from past incidents.

**Monitoring and Surveillance:**

  • **Oversee Surveillance Systems:** Manage the installation and maintenance of surveillance equipment, ensuring that all areas of the plantation are adequately monitored. Evaluate technology upgrades to enhance security capabilities.
  • **Implement Patrol Strategies:** Establish regular patrol schedules for security personnel to monitor the plantation actively. Use data and incident reports to adjust patrol routes and focus areas as needed.

**Emergency Preparedness:**

  • **Develop Emergency Response Plans:** Create comprehensive emergency response plans covering various potential scenarios, including fires, natural disasters, and security breaches. Ensure all employees are aware of their roles in these plans.
  • **Coordinate with Emergency Services:** Build relationships with local emergency services (police, fire, medical) to facilitate collaboration during emergencies. Conduct joint drills to enhance coordination and response effectiveness.

**Collaboration and Communication:**

  • **Cross\-Departmental Collaboration:** Work closely with other departments, such as HR and Operations, to ensure that security measures align with organizational goals and operational needs. Participate in cross\-functional meetings to share insights and updates.
  • **Maintain Open Communication:** Establish communication channels to keep management and staff informed about security policies, incidents, and updates. Encourage feedback and questions to foster a culture of security awareness.

**Budgeting and Resource Management:**

  • **Prepare Security Budget:** Develop an annual security budget that includes personnel, equipment, and training costs. Justify budget requests with data and projected outcomes to ensure adequate funding.
  • **Vendor Evaluation:** Research and evaluate potential security vendors and service providers. Negotiate contracts and ensure that vendors meet quality and compliance standards.

**Reporting and Compliance:**

  • **Prepare Detailed Reports:** Compile and submit comprehensive reports on security activities, incidents, and assessments to management. Include key metrics to track performance and improvement areas.
  • **Ensure Regulatory Compliance:** Stay informed about industry standards and regulations related to workplace safety and security. Conduct regular compliance audits and make necessary adjustments to policies and procedures
  • Attend urgent / additional tasks set by management from time to time.
